Use isolated test data first, then promote the exact same integration safely.
Sandbox and production use the same API shape but separate keys, balances and resources.
Sandbox
Use sandbox for development, automated tests and failure simulations. It does not move real funds. Keep test identifiers out of production databases.
Production
Production requests can move real money. Access depends on account approval and a production API key.
Moving safely
Keep the base URL and request schema configurable, replace only environment-specific secrets, and run a small end-to-end payment before opening traffic.
Warning
Never detect the environment from the API-key text. Store it explicitly in your deployment configuration.
